Russian Mi-8 allegedly defected to Ukraine on 19 August 2023; other claims it got lost and landed in Kharkiv region.
"Ukrainian intelligence lured a Russian Mi-8 helicopter with a pilot to Ukraine. This intelligence operation lasted more than 6 months.
Along with the pilot, there were two crew members on board who did not know where the helicopter was actually going.
The crew was flying between two airbases and transporting parts for Su-27 and Su-30 fighters. The pilot and his family are now in Ukraine."
